How to design a great 12′ x 12′ garden in my backyard in the middle of the city?
There is ample sunlight. Some shade some direct… What steps should I take to make it near perfect for growing small batches of vegetables within the 12″ by 12″ space? Thank you for the step by step detailed information… Tom
I would recommend that you use containers or pots for a start – then they can be moved to capture the sun when the seasons alter the path of the sun.
Pots also are easy to manage – though you will have to feed and water a bit more than ground planted vegetables.
Almost anything can be grown, though if you want a variety, avoid veg like pumpkins which take up a lot of space.
Capsicums are an excellent choice as they can become perennials after fruiting – if you cut them back.
Herbs are good too.
If you want to plant in the ground – try square foot gardening – just Google that phrase – it helps produce more
